A free baseball lineup generator built for youth coaches

Setting a fair batting order and a fielding rotation by hand is the part of game day nobody enjoys. This free baseball lineup generator handles it for you. Add your roster, pick how many players take the field and how many innings you are playing, and it hands back a full lineup card. No signup, no spreadsheet, no scribbling positions on a napkin in the parking lot.

It works as a batting order generator and a fielding lineup maker at the same time. Every kid rotates through the positions and the bench, so playing time gets spread around the way Little League, rec, travel, coach-pitch, and tee-ball parents expect. When you are set, print a lineup card, save a PDF, or copy it into your team chat.

Frequently asked questions

Is the baseball lineup generator free?

Yes, completely. No signup, no login, no credit card. Add your roster, set it up, and make as many lineups as you want.

Does it work for youth, Little League, and coach-pitch baseball?

Yes. It is built for youth baseball: Little League, rec, travel, coach-pitch, and tee-ball. You pick how many players take the field, so it lines up with your league rules.

How does it create a fair batting order and equal playing time?

It rotates kids through the field positions and the bench inning by inning, so playing time and infield reps get spread around. Nobody sits two innings in a row while another kid plays the whole game.

Can I set my own batting order?

Yes. Drag players around to set the batting order however you like, then build the position rotation on top of it. You can use it as a batting order generator, a fielding lineup maker, or both.

Can I print the lineup or save it as a PDF?

Yes. Once you have generated a lineup you can print a card, download a PDF for the dugout, or copy it as text to paste into a group chat.

How many players and innings does it support?

Add as many players as you have on the roster, and set anywhere from 3 to 9 innings. The generator works out the rotation for you.

Do I need to create an account?

No. Your roster saves in your browser, so it is there when you come back. If you want to save rosters across devices and track playing time through the season, you can make a free CalledUp account.

Does it work as a softball lineup generator?

Yes. Set the field size to 10 for the standard softball configuration with the extra outfielder, or any other size your league uses. The batting order and position rotation work exactly the same way.

Can I use it for travel and select baseball?

Yes. Travel teams can lock in a preferred batting order and still get a fair fielding rotation built on top of it. It works for any number of players and any inning count your league uses.

Does it track playing time across the whole season?

The free generator tracks playing time within one game. To see cumulative playing time across the whole season — who has had the most bench innings, who is owed more infield time — create a free CalledUp account. The history builds automatically game by game.

What happens if players do not show up on game day?

Just remove the absent players from the roster before you generate, set the field size to however many you have, and hit Generate. The rotation adjusts to whoever is actually there.
